    On the evening of the 21 November 1800 after a chase of 5 hours, he captured the French privateer cutter PETIT DIABLE some 10 miles S. S. W. of Beachy Head. Commanded by Simon Robert Saltitat she was two days out of Dieppe and carried only 8 men with small arms. The rest of the crew had been sent back to France in a small sloop the privateer had cut out from Seaford Roads on the night of the 20th.
