  • Capt. William Henry SHIRREFF was appointed her first commander on 25 October 1812 with Mr Richard YATES as his senior lieutenant.
    The following year she served on the coast of North America where she remained until the end of the war.

    On 29 September he reported the capture of the American letter of marque schooner ENGINEER, of 8 guns and 35 men, and the FRIENDS, a schooner of 115 tons and 8 men bound from St. Augustine's to St. Bartholomew's
    He was 35 years old when he took command of BARROSA and in August 1815 he moved to the coast blockade service. He died aged 45.
  • 1816 Out of commission at Portsmouth.
