- 1740 Cdr. John GAGE. He was removed to the OTTER sloop.
- 1742 Lieut. John BOWDLER, with a small squadron under Commodore Wm. MARTIN sent to Naples in August to induce the King of Naples to remain neutral over Spanish affairs in Italy, soon afterwards the same squadron was sent to destroy Spanish storehouses at Alassio in the republic of Genoa.
He never forgot the humiliation when he became Carlos III of Spain.
