  • 1799 Lieut. EDMONDS, Downs.
  • 1800 Lieut. FITCH, Nore.
On 17 March 1801 CHARLOTTE and SHEERNESS brought into Portsmouth a homeward bound Danish East Indiaman which they had captured. The prize was of 1200 tons and her cargo was of immense value and Admirals MILBANKE and HOLLOWAY, under whose orders CHARLOTTE and SHEERNESS sailed, got a big share.
  • In September 1801 a court martial was held on board MONARCH at Blackstakes, on seventeen foreign seamen who, as prisoners of war, had volunteered to serve in the Royal Navy and had been put aboard CHARLOTTE where they had mutinied and forcibly taken possession of her. The six ring-leaders were found guilty, sentenced to 50 lashes each and ordered to be imprisoned for the rest of the war.
