  • 1799 T. B. EDSELL, Plymouth.
  • 1800. An unfortunate accident occurred as COCKCHAFER was firing the salute for his Majesty's anniversary. As the guns were being reloaded to complete the salute one gun went off, owing to the vent not being stopped, and carried away the arms of two of her men. They were taken to the Naval Hospital for amputation and were reported to be in a fair way to recovery.

    Served with Capt. CUNNINGHAM's squadron off Havre-de-Grace. She foundered off Guernsey in a gale on 1 November although all the crew were saved.
