  • 1778 On 23 January 1778 Thomas RODDAM was promoted to Rear Ad. of the White, and shortly after hoisted his flag on board CONQUESTADOR as commander in chief at the Nore. He continued to hold the Nore command until the end of the war, as a vice admiral of the blue from 1779 and vice admiral of the white from 1780.
