  • 1809 Robert KEEN.
    Downs.
    ECHO captured the French privateer lugger CAPRICIEUX off Dieppe on 11 March 1810.
    During the chase the Frenchman threw all sixteen guns overboard.
  • On Saturday 30 June 1810 a court martial was held on board ECHO in the Downs at which Lieut. HUNTER was found guilty of drunkenness.
    He was dismissed the sloop, put at the bottom of the list and imprisoned for twelve months.
    Capt. KEEN was promoted to post captain on 21 October 1810, the fifth anniversary of Trafalgar.
  • 1811 Arden ADDERLY, Cork.
    Some miles west of Scilly on 21 February 1811, ECHO fell in with the French privateer schooner CONFIANCE.
    After a chase of eight hours, during which the Frenchman threw overboard fourteen of her sixteen guns, the quarry altered course when she saw two ships ahead and was overtaken and captured. She was a fine, copper-bottomed vessel.
    His next appointment was to CROCUS.
