  • 1808 Bentinck C. DOYLE, convoy to Brazils, 7 May.
    Arrived at Rio de Janeiro in September. There was little activity on the Brazilian station, the Portuguese royal family had recently escaped to Brazil and dreaded to have any of the British squadron go to sea.
  • 1810 North Sea.
    On the 21 November she captured the French privateer lugger GENERAL D'ORSENNE of 14 guns and 69 men.
  • Capt. DOYLE was promoted to post captain May 1811. LIGHTNING was re-rated as a post ship so that he could retain his command.
  • 1811 Ditto, Channel.
  • 1812 Ditto, Leeward Is. She captured the schooner SHEPHERDESS on 12 October 1812.
  • 1814 Plymouth.
    On 18 March 1814 the British brig FAVOURITE of 126 tons and 6 men was recaptured by LIGHTNING. She was from Waterford bound for Bilbao.
