MOUCHERON (16) A privateer purchased in 1802.
Lost in 1807.

  • MOUCHERON arrived in Plymouth on 21 November 1803 taking shelter from a tremendous storm which swept through the area during the following night accompanied by incessant hail with thunder and lightning.
    On the previous Wednesday, the 19th., she fell in with and chased a small coasting convoy of chasse-maree, three of which she captured, and drove the rest on shore where they were destroyed. She sailed on 25 December in the teeth of a hurricane from the S. W. and returned from Guernsey on 2 February 1804 with dispatches from Rear-Ad. SAUMAREZ.
  • 1805 Capt. REED.
    On 6 February 1805 she sailed with orders brought down by an especial King's Messenger and sent on board by the Admiral.
  • 1805 James HAWES.
    MOUCHERON sailed for the Mediterranean on 17 February 1807 and was wrecked in the Dardanelles September 1807. Capt. HAWES lost his life
