PICKLE (16) Schooner The French schooner L'ECLAIR taken in 1801. Renamed PICKLE in June 1809.
Sold in 1818.

  • 1812 Lieut. William FIGG, cruising.
    During the night of 17 December 1812 PICKLE and ALBACORE were becalmed off the Lizard with six merchantmen.
    At dawn they found that they were also in company with the French 40-gun frigate GLOIRE.
    When a wind came up the Frenchman made all sail to escape pursued by the British ships who were joined later by BOXER and LANDRAIL.
    After several exchanges of fire the GLOIRE successfully outran them.
    GLOIRE later captured SPY, a storeship, and LINNET.
  • 1814 Ditto, Guernsey.
  • 1816 Out of commission.
