  • Capt. Edward PACKENHAM, East Indies. She was accidentally blown up in the Banca Strait on 24 July 1798.
    Capt. PACKENHAM was among the killed.
  • It was reported in 1800 that the unfortunate survivors, after being taken by Malay pirates, were sold to different Rajahs in the market place at Penobang.
    Thomas SCOTT, a seaman, was sold for 35 dollars to a kind master who offered to release him whenever he could raise his purchase price.
    Fortunately for the prisoners the Macassar Rajah redeemed them all and he in turn was repaid by the Sultan who was rewarded by the British Government.
