  • 1835 Capt. Hyde PARKER, 08/1835, Mediterranean.
    RODNEY arrived at Barcelona on 26 December 1835, during the bloody civil war between the Carlists and the Cristinas, to watch over British interests The following March she was re-fitting at Port Mahon and then sailed for Barcelona on 18 April.
  • On 5 August 1837 RODNEY was on passage from Palmas Bay in Sardinia to Minorca when a seaman, James RAY, fell from the main-top yard arm into the sea.
    When master's mate F. H. STEVENS saw the insensible man being swept past the quarter he immediately jumped overboard and supported the man until the boat arrived.
