ROSARIO (14) Fireship The Spanish N. S. DEL ROSARIO, taken by ROMULUS and MAHONESA off Cadiz on 24 May 1797.
Burnt 1800.

  • Capt. HERBERT appointed to her in November 1797.
  • 1800 Capt. CARTHEW, 07/1798, Sheerness.
On 27 June 1800 ROSARIO joined the fire vessels, brigs and other vessels under Capt. INMAN of ANDROMEDA assembling to attack enemy frigates in the Dunkirk roads. Because of contrary winds and tides the attack did not take place until the night of 7 July. DART boarded and took the easternmost French frigate but, although the captains of WASP, FALCON, COMET and ROSARIO remained in their ships until completely in flames, the remaining three were able to cut their cables and escape down the Inner Channel within the Braak Sand.
