    On 1 January 1800 SPIDER and TELEGRAPH arrived in Plymouth from Torbay and on 28 February she sailed with SUFFISANTE, HAVICK and DASHER to cruise off the Isle of Bas. She returned on 6 March.
    On the 12 June 1800 SPIDER brought the Polperro lugger EXPEDITION into Plymouth.
    Nine hundred ankers of brandy were found in her as well as tobacco and other smuggled goods.
    In 1801 she sailed for the Mediterranean and returned from Alexandria on 2 September after a 10 week passage having as a passenger Capt. YOUNG who was carrying dispatches for the government.
    He set off immediately in a post-chaise and four for London.
  • 1803 Lieut. Harding SHAW, Gibraltar.
  • 1804 Ditto, off Toulon.
    After Lieut. SHAW had flogged a seaman, John CARTER, on 5 September 1804 there was considerable unrest among his crew culminating in a round shot being thrown at him and the master, Mr LANGDON.
    When no one would confess to having done this SHAW ordered a dozen lashes each for the whole crew.
    Lord NELSON admonished him for this action on 4 October.
  • On 10 December 1805 SPIDER captured the French privateer ANDROMEDA of 4 guns and 43 men.
