- 1814 Alexander Barkclay BRANCH, 06/6/1814, Leeward Is.
(A gunbrig was normally commanded by a lieutenant, since Mr BRANCH was a commander SWINGER had to be re-rated as a sloop. Cdr. BRANCH lost a leg in GLEANER in 1811) While cruising off Dutch Guiana he engaged a large American privateer; but was unable to prevent her escaping into the Oronoco River by using her sweeps. However she had been badly crippled by SWINGER's fire. - SWINGER brought home the dispatches relating to the surrender of the garrison of Guadeloupe in August 1815 and paid off on her arrival in September.
