TIGRESS (12) Gun-brig Built in 1797, Lynn.
Sold in 1802.

  • 1799 W. ALDUS, Portsmouth.
In 1801 she was serving under the orders of Capt. ROSE of JAMAICA in the Downs.
On 20 August they saw the smoke produced by HOUND and MALLARD setting fire to pitch and tar in a ship which had been wrecked some time earlier near Etaples.
This had also attracted a number of French vessels which had been driven ashore by HOUND.
The boats of the squadron destroyed three and brought three out.
A seaman, Anthony JUDD, of TIGRESS was slightly wounded.
