  • 1738 Cdr. Benjamin YOUNG, Deptford. Cruising from Plymouth in 1739.
    In July 1740, BONETTA, in her passage from Lisbon, met with the Spanish privateer which captured the TOWNSHEND PACKET and engaged her for more than four hours, in which the privateer lost a great many men, and was so damaged that it is believed she foundered before reaching port. The privateer had 200 men, the sloop 40.
