  • 1726 Capt. George CLINTON, Mediterranean under Rear Ad. HOPSON. He continued under Sir Charles WAGER, being almost constantly employed in convoying storeships between Gibraltar and ports like Lisbon and Tetuan. In April 1727 he escorted the Turkey fleet to Smyrna and afterwards carried out attacks on Spanish batteries in the vicinity of Gibraltar. In September 1727 he was sent home with the Turkey fleet from Gibraltar, on his arrival COLCHESTER was ordered to be laid up.
  • 1740 Capt. Richard SYMONDS, date of appointment not known, but he died at sea in command of COLCHESTER, while returning from the West Indies on 23 October 1740.
