  • 1744 Capt. Thomas GRENVILLE. In November, accompanied by Capt. LLOYD in the FLY sloop, he was sent on a cruise around the Islands of Jersey and Guernsey to look for clues to the fate of the VICTORY and met with several pieces of a wreck and part of a carved-work stern that they judged to belong to the missing ship. They were told by the people of Alderney of the firing of near 100 guns between the 4th. and the 5th.
  • In March 1745 he captured a French privateer of 14 guns and carried the prize into Kinsale.
