  • 1738 JERSEY came into Plymouth Sound on 14 May, paid the following day.
  • 1744 Capt. Charles HARDY. On 9 June in 1744 he was appointed governor and commander in chief of the island of Newfoundland, with the port of Placentia and all its dependencies. In November three ships bound for Bordeaux, the Intrepide, Rous; and the Mentor, Corbettes, both from San Domingo, and the Marie Theresa, Forigue, from Martinique, were captured by JERSEY and taken into Plymouth.
