  • 1708 Capt. Jonas HANWAY. On 20th. September 1709 Capt. HANWAY was on his way to Plymouth from the fleet to repair damage receive in a gale, when, the Deadman bearing N. W. by N. about seven leagues, he fell in with the French ship of war ARIADNE.40, pierced for 48, which had been fitted out at Dunkirk as a cruiser. Although PLYMOUTH was scarcely fit for action, she gave chace and, bringing the enemy to action, forced him to strike after an hour's fight, with 15 killed, including the captain, and about 60 wounded. PLYMOUTH had 7 killed and 16 wounded.
  • 1722 rebuilt at Chatham.
  • =1 F 1742 Capt. LIMEBURNER, on 29th. March 1742 took the GALGO privateer belonging to St. Sebastian, of 12 guns and 12 swivels, and 140 men, amongst whom were several British sailors.She was but 14 months old, and had taken 21 prizes.
