  • 1739 Capt. Robert LONG, RUSSEL was one of the ships ordered to the Mediterranean under Mr ROWLEY, as a reinforcement for Admiral MATTHEWS. In the evening of the action off Toulon the admiral, finding the NAMUR much disabled, shifted his flag to RUSSELL.
