SERPENT (12) Sloop - bomb Built in 1742, Limehouse.
Wrecked in 1748.

  • 1742 Cdr. John HUME. She entered Portsmouth Harbour on 5 April 1744 and on the 12th. orders were received to fit her out as a bomb vessel.
  • 1744 Cdr. Roger ADAMS.
  • 1745 Cdr. Robert ASKEW. He was stationed off the Scottish coast to intercept supplies being carried to the Jacobite forces during the rebellion of that year and gained credit for sending parties ashore to attack enemy quarters.
