  • 1712 Capt. John TEMPLE, appointed on 24th. March 1712. He was immediately ordered to the West Indies with a small squadron under Sir Hovenden WALKER. The day after they left Plymouth Capt. TEMPLE had the good fortune to capture a French privateer of 14 guns and 100 men, which he carried into Lisbon, before proceeding to his original destination.
  • 1739 John CRAWFORD, appointed on 30th. August. He was soon after ordered to America, and died in Virginia some time in 1740, still in command.
