  • 1739 On Friday 16 April 1742 she sailed from Spithead with Admiral MATTHEW's squadron consisting of NAMURE, CAROLINE, RUSSEL, NORFOLK and the PORTSMOUTH fireship.

  • 1739 Cdr. LAWS, In May he was ordered to the Bahamas to replace the SHARK.
  • 1741 Cdr. Thomas MOGG, Mediterranean.
  • 1744 Cdr. Matthew BUCKLE. Promoted by Ad. MATTHEWS from being 1st. Lieutenant of NAMUR to command SPENCE in the Mediterranean. On 29 May 1745 he was again promoted to be captain of the RUSSEL (80), on the same station.
