  • 1755 Capt. John STORR, Sir Edward HAWKE's flag captain when a strong squadron was assembled at St. Helens in July which put to sea in the hope of intercepting du GUAY's fleet returning from reinforcing the Leeward Is. The French got safely into Brest and HAWKE returned to Portsmouth. In September 1756 Capt. STORR was sent out to the Mediterranean as a passenger in the AMBUSCADE to replace the captain of REVENGE, who was a witness at the trial of Adm. BYNG.
