18th century maritime bells

Hi. I'm trying to research a number of interesting maritime bells, each of which dates to the 18th century.

I realized that this is somewhat earlier than the period encompassed by this forum, but there are few resources on the web like yours, so I was hoping that some members could tell me if there are any resources that could help me track back details on bells to their foundries, or to explain some of the imagery appearing on these bells.

In particular there's a French bell that is missing some lettering that I'd love to figure out where it came from.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
