Colin White, Director of the Royal Naval Museum, has died on Christmas day.
He was a well known expert and author on the life of Nelson.
He led the Nelson Letters Project from 2000 to 2005.
He was chairman of the 1805 Club for some years.
He was appointed chairman of the Official Nelson Celebrations Committee charged with co-ordinating the Festival for the bicentenary of the battle of Trafalgar.

The Royal Navy normally half masts the colours for all those that die whilst serving in the RN. Colin was a Captain in the RNR so he would have been entitled.
A nice man, I met him many times. |
