  • 1822 William CUTFIELD, 10/1821, surveying service on Coast of Africa as tender to LEVEN.
    On returning from a 14 day survey of Delagoa Bay, Mozambique, in an open boat he fell victim to fever on 30 November 1822. 68 other members of the crew also died. He had entered the navy in 1796 when he was 9 years old and had been a midshipman in BELLEISLE at Trafalgar.
  • 1823-26 Alexander Thomas Emeric VIDAL, 05/1823, He was promoted out of LEVEN.
    BARRACOUTA assisted LEVEN in the survey of the West African coast from Walvis Bay north to the Gambia River, returning home at the end of 1825. VIDAL was appointed to STYX in 1841. BOTELER was appointed to HECLA and died of fever in 1829.
  • From 1826 she was out of commission at Woolwich until converted to a 6-gun-brig in May 1829.
  • Lieut. R. B. JAMES, 05/1829, Falmouth, commissioned as a packet brig until she finally paid off in September 1833.
