  • 1804 Lieut. John STOKES, Downs.
    He was to be her only commander through the war. CONSTANT was with the squadron watching Boulogne for six years.
  • 1812 Ditto, Basque Roads.
    In company with the MARTIAL gun vessel she captured the French privateer OLYMPE off the Saintes (near Ushant) on 21 April 1813. The OLYMPE was carrying two guns and 16 men.
  • In the summer of 1813 she was serving with the squadron assisting the army along the north coast of Spain.
    On 10 June, being under the orders of Capt. TAYLER in SPARROW, the two vessels closed the coast at Lekeitio during the night to bring off the 1270 officers and men of a Spanish corps commanded by a Don Miguel Artola which was been closely pressed by a superior enemy force. They were landed safely at Santander.
    CONSTANT was stationed in the Bidasson with NIMBLE during the final assault on San Sebastian on 8th. 9th. September.
