  • 1808 Robert Merrick FOWLER, 08/1808. Richard BUCK, 12/1809 until he was promoted to post rank 03/4/1811.
    On 11 June 1810 a court martial was held on board the SALVADOR DEL MUNDO in the Hamoaze to try Mr G. B. RAMSEY a midshipman in CROCUS for deserting with a boat's crew while on duty. While the CROCUS was off Land's End Mr RAMSEY had been sent ashore to fetch sand for scrubbing the decks and he and the crew had left the boat on the beach. He was sentenced to lose all his pay and to serve 2 years in the Marshalsea Prison after which he was to serve before the mast.
    In a second court martial, John BARNES, a seaman who deserted with him, was also charged with making mutinous statements when he was taken by the purser and the 1st. lieutenant. He was sentenced to receive 200 lashes.
  • 1811 John BELLAMY, Mediterranean, Arden ADDERLEY, 05/1811, Mediterranean.
    On 4 September 1812 CROCUS captured the French privateer settee FORMICA of two guns and 25 men. She was three months out of Genoa without making any captures.
    Her crew escaped in the boats to the Barbary shore.
