    In November 1808 FAME relieved EXCELLENT off Rosas where Capt. Lord COCHRANE was ashore assisting the Spaniards with the defence of Fort Trinite against the besieging French and Italian forces.
    When the citadel fell on 5 December further defence became impracticable so, after firing trains for blowing the magazines, the garrison was embarked in the boats of MAGNIFICENT, IMPERIEUSE and FAME.
