  • 1793 Capt. Rupert GEORGE.
    In 1793 he sent a letter to Capt. COURTNEY of BOSTON advising him that the French frigate AMBUSCADE had arrived on the American coast and there was no British man of war of sufficient force on the station to protect commerce, HUSSAR was about to leave for the West Indies with a convoy.
  • 1794 Lieut. Charles ROWLEY was appointed acting captain of HUSSAR during the summer.
  • 1795 Capt. John Poo BERESFORD.
    He was promoted to post captain on 25 June but he had been appointed to HUSSAR some time previously.
    THETIS and HUSSAR captured the PREVOYANTE (40), and the RAISON (24) both ships armed en flute, in the Chesapeake on 17 May 1795.
  • 1796 Capt. Charles ROWLEY resumed command at Halifax until she was paid off in the autumn.
  • 1796 Capt. James COLNETT.
    HUSSAR was wrecked near the Ile Bas on 27 December 1796.
