BEAVER (14) Sloop Built in 1764, Inwood, Rotherhithe.
Sold in 1783.

  • On 18th. May 1777 the BEAVER sloop of 125 men, commanded by Capt. JONES,being on a cruise off St. Lucia, fell in with,and after an action of some three-quarters of an hour, captured the OLIVER CROMWELL an American privateer of 24 guns, 10 swivels, 10 cohorns and 150 men, commanded by Capt. Harman, 20 of whom were killed and as many wounded. She was taken into the service and named the BEAVER'S PRIZE.
