BLACKWALL (48) 4th rate Built in 1696, Blackwall.
Captured in 1705.

  • 1702 Capt. Thomas DAY.
In the following spring he was sent under Vice Ad. GRAYDON to the West Indies where he was promoted immediately on his arrival, to the BOYNE (80), in which he died on 2 August 1703.
  • 1703 Capt. Samuel MARTIN.
In September 1705 he was sent with two other small warships to convoy the trade to the Baltic, and was on his return with those ships which had completed their lading in time, when, on 20 October, they ran into the Dunkirk squadron under M. de St. PAUL, which consisted of five naval ships, and more than five large privateers. The odds were too great, all the British ships, 3 warships and 12 merchant ships, were captured (BLACKWALL by PROTEE) and taken into Dunkirk. Capt. MARTIN and the French Commodore were killed in the action.
  • BLACKWALL was recaptured on 15 March 1708, and broken up.
