- 1779 Capt. Elliott SALTER, on the 26th. November, in company with the CHATHAM, Capt William ADAMS, having under their convoy the trade from Lisbon, fell in with a large Spanish ship, which Capt. SALTER came up with the next morning and, after an action which lasted for three-quarters of an hour, struck, and proved to be the NOSTRA SENORA del BUEN CONSEGIO, a register ship pierced for 64 guns, but mounting 26 12-pounders and 170 men, from Lima bound for Cadiz. Although she had already unloaded most of her treasure at Fyal, she still proved to be a rich prize. The enemy had 27 men killed and 8 wounded. HUSSAR had four killed and ten wounded.
