  • 1760 Capt. Henry TOWRY (he changed his name from Phillips in 1760). She was employed as a cruiser and on 4th. February 1761 captured the DUCHESSE DE GRAMMONT (12), originally the HAWK sloop of war, captured in November 1759 and turned into a privateer by the merchants of St. Malo who had purchased her. A few days later JUNO and VENUS encountered the French frigate BRUNE (32), VENUS being a faster sailor engaged the enemy first and BRUNE surrendered just as JUNO came up within gunshot. JUNO had two men wounded.
  • 1770 Capt. John STOTT, in April JUNO, with the HOUND sloop and the FLORIDA storeship, was sent to the Falkland Is. to receive the formal surrender of the islands from Spain.
