  • 1720 Capt. Mungo HERDMAN, the WEYMOUTH was sent to the coast of Guinea to suppress piracy.
    Lieut. Alexander SELKIRK (Robinson Crusoe) died of fever on 13 December 1721, just one of 180 out of 280 who died during the voyage.
