Can anybody help me with some information? I am trying to put together a list of French 64 gunship classes and their ships that served from the American Revolution to the end of the Napoleonic era, there is quite a list of individual ships listed on Wikipedia but only 1 class of 64's is named and that's the Artesien and I can find only 2 ships of this 12 ship class.
They are the ARTESIEN and PROTEE.
Thank You!

I have given the relevant sources in the topic "How to find a ship of the French Navy" in the "Hint and tips" part of this forum.
Click on the link "www.ageofnelson.org Forum Index" above, then go to "Hint and tips for researchers" and find the topic near the bottom of the page.
I quickly checked the lists I have but they are either alphabetical or chronological, so it would take too much time to find the (numerous) relevant ships. I'll leave that to you.
I can quote le Rusé, le Sévère, l'Ajax, le Jason.
Don't forget that the article is part of the name of a ship in French.
The notion of "class" is typically anglo-saxon: there where no "classes" in the French navy at least during the period you are interested in.
