What means K.S.W. after a name as in "Lieutenant Edgecumbe, RN, K.S.W."
Thank you in advance.

Greetings Patrick,
I thought at first it could have been something like a Swedish Knight, or other European award. Perhaps he had attended a Belgian Beer Festival! I have checked my almanacks, other reference books and the Shorter Oxford English Dictionary. No sign of KSW. Intriguing!
What did Lt. Edgecumbe get up to ?

Swedish Order was Knight of the Sword (KS) see Sidney Smith.
A possibility is Knight of St Vladimir (Russian) maybe spelled as Wladimir?
All I have is his obit in the Gentleman's Mag. 1826, ii, p 188: d on 22 July 1826 whil 1st Lt. on Gloucester.
Born 1790, Lt 1811
To young then to be one of those officers who served under one of the flags during the Russo-Swedish conflict.
Inbev is on strike, here. No more beer. Probably the second revolution in some days!
