The Boreas, 28 guns, was built in 1774 and sold in 1802. It is said that the gunner, Jacob Swanson, was renowned for the bad behaviour of his wife, who was the heroine of a low-class chap book, The Adventures of Moll Swanson of Portsmouth. I haven't been able so far to track down this book or booklet - does anyone know of a copy? |

Yes, even the British Library doesn't have one, and Addall and other online booksellers come up blank unfortunately. |
