This forum is devoted to the Royal Navy during the Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars (1793 - 1815).
And why not the other navies of the period?

Two addresses you may find useful.

A converter of Roman numbers like MDCLXVI that you find on title pages or monuments:
http://www2.inetdirect.net/~charta/Roman_numerals.html

A conversion table of obsolete units like a toise or a rod:
http://www.kb.nl/skd/mathemat.html
It doesn't give all the old units: units varied not only from country to country but from town to town, but it may be useful to find a good approximation.
